My weak nature..

Sounds funny isn't it? My weak nature sounds like a self indulgent post that is going to be written here! In actual fact, there is some truth but I want to encourage myself instead. Somehow I felt I want an overhaul of what I m doing now. I want to be in charge and be comfortable with myself but there seems to be things preventing me from moving forward! Something is holding me back and that is my weakness or negative life is coming forward! How can I defeat it and win over my weak self? In buddhism, it will probably be using my weak self as a force to propel myself forward! It should help me to improve, to greet what is unknown and to take on the environment! I guess we have to be aware and to win over our weak nature!

Thus in desperation, I had to seek some guidance and here is what is taken from the Words of Wisdom by Daisaky Ikeda "As long as we are human, we are destined to make mistakes. We all fall prey to flawed beliefs and views. What separates a forward-looking person from an intransigent one, a virtuous person from a malevolent one, however, is whether one can candidly admit to ones mistakes and take bold steps to redress them."

Yes, I need the courage to confront myself and to admit my mistakes! Ultimately there is no shame in not knowing, there is only shame if we pretend to know everything! Thus, step forward Foong, and be not afraid to make mistakes. When mistakes are made, be ready to apologise, redress and continue to move onwards! Yeah!

Opposites..

Today I was reading comics and leant something from the story. Many would have say comics are not exactly educational materials but sometimes, there are some lines that really hit home. In one of the story, the characters were discussing what is the opposite of love and they conclude is hate. What is the opposite of marriage and the answer is probably familiarity turns to ignoring. The couple gets so used to each other that after a long time together, there is the loss of the passion that got them together in the first place. Well someone said at a course I attendee recently that one of the reasons that marriages broke down nowadays is due to the breakdown of communication between the husband and the wife. This breakdown in communication can be due to kids because there are so busy trying to provide the best for their children that they have found no time on their own and to do things they would do together. Ultimately when the children are grown up and have a life of their own, the parents will be left with each other. Will they have anything to say to each other besides the children? Hmm.. yes and no? I don want to answer!

The other thing from the comic is how do you know whether you like someone? The answer comes clear when you are able to spot that special someone no matter where you are even in a crowd or a busy street. A sense of familiarity or a detection of that person's hormone/ smell from afar? In some studies they have shown that a person like someone because of the hormone/ smell released from the person's body. This is probably the reason why some animals find their own by smell. There are of course other theories but I m not going to discuss them here.

From words of wisdom from Daisaku Ikeda - "Never for an instant forget the effort to renew your life, to build yourself anew. Creativity means to push open the heavy, groaning doorway of life itself. This is not an easy task. Indeed, it may be the most severely challenging struggle there is. For opening the door to your own life is in the end more difficult than opening the door to all the mysteries of the universe."
